QuestionThe T owns. Don't hate. We had the first subway in the Americans and possibly the world so don't even start. Obviously being the first one means that we have all the flaws to work out and since subway building isn't cheap, you do the best you can with what you have, even if it means doing everything you can to work out a flaw that is never really going to go away. As far as the map goes, I don't know your deal but everyone in Boston and the surrounding areas seem to navigate pretty well. Answer

Way to miss the point completely. I have no problem with the T itself, it seems to be a pretty comprehensive system. However, it’s over 30 years too late to be the first subway in the world: the London Underground (heard of it?) opened in 1863, and already had electric trains before the T even started.

I have no doubt that people can navigate the system as well, either - but that’s also not my point. The very best transit maps are more than merely informational, they are also beautiful. The Boston map fails on this count and could be so much better.
