QuestionI can't figure out how to reply to a post, but I thought I'd respond to your Singapore question. Signs in the stations & streets use the alphanumeric labels for each station much more prominently than the names themselves. This makes some sense in a city with three coexisting cultures and languages, otherwise they'd be forced to have huge signs or tiny text in order to fit the different translations. Answer

Thanks for the clarification -I thought it may be something like that and goes to show how culture can shape the final form of even something as ubiquitous as a transit map.
